Medina

From RetroMUX

Single Dad Diesel Mechanic

I've been working for Jeff for on about eight months now, and I can't really figure out how to explain him. All I can really tell you is, it's something about him makes you pay attention real quick. Like when you know a storm's coming. But he pays fair, doesn't ask a bunch of questions when you need to handle business, and if somebody tries to run game on me, he's got my back one hundred percent. Good thing, too, because when Jeff starts to get pissed, he gets quiet. Real still. And there's something about that silence that makes every instinct I've got start screaming to back the fuck up.

He's old-school. Like those vatos who learned to work on cars in their daddy's backyard and think safety's for pussies. My uncle's the same way. Won't wear gloves, won't wait for shit to cool down, acts like getting cut up is just part of the job. He's a straight-up wizard with anything that's got an engine. And I mean it - man can listen to a rig idling and tell you exactly what's wrong with it. EXACTLY what's wrong with it. He must've probably been doing this since he was like twelve or whatever.

Had a picture of this little girl in his truck for a while. Never talked about her, but the way I caught him looking at it, ... man. Then it disappeared one day. Don't know what the story is there, but it ain't a happy one. Makes sense though. Dude works all the time, takes calls at weird hours, disappears for days sometimes on 'emergency jobs.' Whatever's going on with that kid, it ain't good. Seen that look before. My buddy Carlos got the same one when his baby mama moved to Dallas with his son. That guilt, you know? Man...

Imagine, being the guy who can fix anything except the one thing that actually matters.

General RP Hooks

Fellow Austinite

He's Houston born-and-raised, but he spent several years in Austin, working as a fleet mechanic and making moves down in seedy South Congress and just east of 35 where the White Horse sits. Maybe we come from the same place.

Bellfort Diesel

Maybe you need help fixing or hiding a vehicle (legal or otherwise). Maybe you can ask him for help refurbishing a safehouse. Bellfort Diesel is a small diesel and towing outfit situated in South Houston.

I Need An Adult

There is some perspective that can only come from having a little kid. You need a voice of reason? Someone with more patience than he has any business wielding?

Old Dog, New Tricks

Medina's been around the block. If you're Garou from Austin, maybe you not only have crossed paths, but crossed paths with him before he fell from grace. He's slinked out to Houston after he was stripped of his rank. Juicy. What's he up to, and is he a liability?

Mister Logistics

Medina might smell like motor oil, but he's a Walker in the end, and he can't seem to help himself: he's all about systems, data, details. He knows how to move people, resources, information. You might reach for his hand to coordinate support, manage safehouses, hide paper trails, and rig communications.

Contacts

  • Maarten - A close friend and pack mate. Maarten keeps him alive, Medina keeps him oriented. Sort of. He outfitted an RV with aspirations of housing this man, only for the reality to sink in that he's comically too tall. Now he just keeps finding himself amazed at Maarten's ability to turn $50 into $2.
  • Rue - The most fiendish instrument of torture that Gaia devised to ever bedevil the days of men.
  • Emma - One of the very few people Medina actually relaxes around, having known her since he was a kid. Hell, she even saw him sniffle once. It took tequila but it did happen.
  • Brent - A poor, unfortunate darling who Medina treats like shit despite the fact that he would kill for him. You see, Brent is HIS punching bag.
  • Slouch - A recent addition to his circle. They're oil and water, but he has respect for him.
  • Todrick - An incredibly empathetic acquaintance who is right about him 9 times out of 10, but that important 10th time is 50% of why he avoids him. The other 50% is those other 9 times.
  • Molly - Someone whose patience and sincerity with him is far more precious than he wants to admit.
  • Ajax - A priveleged fuckup who is pushing every single parental button the man has. Jeff thinks his parents have failed him and he needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. Gaia have mercy on both of them.
