Synopsis

A Chantry seeks to rebuild its strength by rediscovering old allies and building new ones. Mages must rediscover forgotten Nodes, cleanse corruption seeded by old betrayals, and forge a future that could unite them at last. Every step forward carries the risk of exposure, conflict, and temptation, with the choice between survival and unity possibly turning the tide of the Ascension War itself.

Echoes of the Lost

The mages of Baker House live under the quiet but formidable protection of their Deacon, Dr. Levi Eisenstein. A master of Great power and even greater secrecy, his wards, knowledge of Nodes, and implacable sense of caution have long kept his Chantry safe. Receiving a letter bearing the unmistakable signature of a loved one, he strikes out on his own, seeking his way into a Technocracy Construct to undertake a daring rescue... one that ultimately fails.

Drawn into the consequences of Eisenstein's mistake, the mages of Baker House uncover his secretive preparations and follow his trail to a Technocracy Construct, committing a dangerous yet ultimately successful raid to rescue the powerful Master. Was the entire premise a ruse, a honey pot to capture a powerful Master? Was the Master they retrieved the Deacon they all knew, or something else? What does this raid spell out for relations between the Traditions and the Technocracy?

From the Flames

With Eisenstein's mind factured and his secrets unraveling, he can no longer protect Baker House as he once was. The Order of Hermes demands that he be removed from his position, and sent to Doisstep for further debrief and recovery. In the mean time, a trio of Mages from Doisstep are sent to oversee Baker House, and waste no time rebuilding.

After some swift negotiations, Baker House and Shrike's Nest converge as a new entity: the Phoenix Bloom Chantry. But a new discovery puts all of them in danger: the protections created by Eisenstein (including the Localized Reality of Baker House) begin to falter, and need to be rebuilt. This includes the smaller Nodes, the locations and protections of which remain a mystery. The new Deacons of Phoenix Bloom dangle access to the Chantry's combined resources as a carrot to their younger members. Just what might the stick be?

The San Jacinto Battleground is a hallowed site in the history of Houston, the place practically ringing with the sound of the ancient battle that spelled the end of the war for Texas to win its freedom from Mexico. But what was once a beautiful location with a clear pool and a long-standing monument has become a pool of fetid water and practice space for graffiti taggers. Just what protections may have been on the place are a mystery, and whatever power it may have had seems to have faded. What can be done?
