Introduction[ edit ]

Recently returning to Houston after some time studying overseas in Austria, Cedric Washington is, ostensibly, working on completing his masters, and he couldn't be happier to be home. Natural, Black, approving, humorous, vaguely reassuring, he is exactly what he wants you to see.

Since his return, he's been finding his footing. More street than bureaucrat, he's been rebuilding connections through music, culture, and the kind of easy charm that makes people forget he's Tremere until it's too late. His authenticity and local knowledge have won him many friends, though few of them know what he really is. He's also been navigating a decade of Houston history he missed entirely, and the weight of a sire who openly resents him. Beneath it all, he seems genuinely devoted to Houston itself - Third Ward specifically - even as he tries to respect the Camarilla establishment, and beyond that, Clan Tremere. As a result, in mere months he's managed to become a familiar face in places most Tremere never go, though whether that's an asset or a liability remains to be seen.

Cedric Washington, The Kabbalistic Scholar

Cedric's mystical practice is rooted in Kabbalah and Jewish mysticism, filtered through his background in the Black Hebrew Israelite community. A decade under the Pyramid's thumb sanded down the more identitarian extremes of his ideology, but his origins in occult scholarship remain covenantal. His approach is syncretic and sometimes unorthodox: he reads omens through divine language, studies the Sefer Yetzirah's letters of creation, and practices merkavah mysticism. To more traditional Hermetic practitioners, his methods can seem sideways or even primitive, but he finds his own coherent framework in the Tree of Life and its shadow. He sees patterns where others see chaos.

Occult Services: Cedric can read omens about upcoming events or warn about spiritual dangers, help designing or performing rituals, interpret dreams, and give spiritual diagnoses and research assistance and teaching.

The Catch: He's Tremere, so there are always strings attached, and not even by him, not always. First off, he's new to freedom, so he might ask for unusual favors in exchange. His methods are unorthodox, and he's blood bound to his sire and the Pyramid as all Tremere are, so complete confidentiality is never guaranteed.

Before his sire collected him, Cedric studied at Texas Southern University, a pre-law and religious studies double major. Yeah, yeah - a fucking nerd. There's a lot of Cedric that's been buried away for around a decade and now that he's returned home he's eager to exhume it, to get back to music, to get back to the community he remembers, even though it moved on in the decade without him.

Music: Cedric is hungry for the pop-up shows, the word-of-mouth house parties, the connections. He's into rap, classical, jazz, soul, and trip-hop, and he plays trumpet and bass.

Mot: Mot was the Canaanite god of death and the Underworld but he's also the Great Devourer, a god with a monstrous mouth and unspeakable hunger. Mot is also the name of his '85 Coupe De Ville because it's the death of his wallet and it eats all his fucking money. It's candy-painted atomic orange and outfitted with standout details like trunk lights that say 'KISS MY ASS'. If you don't notice Cedric, you might notice the car. You'd have to be blind. And deaf - when he drives it, he drives it slow, and he pours out grey tapes at full blast.
