Summary

A corporate coverup hides a system turning workers into monsters, and the wyrm's corruption is spreading as workers go missing. Find them to uproot the corruption and bring it to an end, and expect Pentex not to let them go quietly.

Overview

Seven workers died in an industrial explosion at Building 7 of Smith International's Deer Park facility, and what was left behind was twisted steel, blood, and unanswered questions. The official story is industrial accident, but eight night-shift workers went missing in the weeks before the explosion, all of them handling the same experimental "industrial solvent" that Smith International swears is just an enhanced degreaser.

Their surviving families aren't buying the official story, and Federal investigators from OSHA and ATF are asking uncomfortable questions. When they demanded Smith International reveal the fates of the eight missing workers, the petrochemical giant responded with corporate stonewalling. Their suits insist that the missing workers were "independent contractors" with no records, and they trade secret protections on every document request, and even send coordinated agents to intercept anyone looking too closely...

But there are more loose threads. Some of them are disturbed workers whose conscience can't keep them complicit forever. Others are more chaotic, more disturbing: men transformed into 'monsters'. Something in Building 7 didn't just explode, it was changing people. Their delivery drivers like Omar Vasquez and Marcus Williams came back wrong: violent, burning to the touch, leaking caustic fluids. Marcus fought off three men with his bare hands before they drugged him and dragged him away. Thomas Botkin's mind shattered so completely he's institutionalized.

And somewhere in Houston's petrochemical sprawl, Smith International is already prepping XK-52, the "safer" formula. The bodies are stacking up. The evidence is buried. And Smith International has made it very clear, they'd rather destroy lives than admit what XK-47 really does.

Investigate The Facilities:: There are dump sites to remediate, facilities to map out and discover, witnesses to interview to find out how far the corruption goes, where the missing've gone, and how to best plan a strike against Smith International, an oil & gas company clearly in the clutches of Pentex.
Expose The Corruption: Confront Smith International's security, Gulf Coast's "rehabilitation" doctors, the fomori that workers have become. Expose the cover-up through legal channels, media attention, or direct action
Protect The Vulnerable: There are vulnerable people: family members like Maria Santos organizing against Smith International. Whistleblowers with dangerous knowledge like RJ. Survivors still being hunted like David. They each have wounds to heal, lives to rebuild, and Pentex is closer to them than they realize.
Protect The Veil: Smith International is not only leaking fomori but leaking witnesses like David Santos...
Search & Destroy: Cleanse the contaminated sites poisoning Gaia, rescue workers mid-transformation, destroy XK-47 stockpiles before they're deployed elsewhere.

The Current State Of Things

What is XK-47? XK-47 has been mentioned in the news as an "industrial degreaser" and a "next-generation cleaning solvents for oil, automotive and maritime industries." The workers who have been chronically exposed to it are vulnerable to its corrupting influence.

Maria Santos has made herself the face of the search effort for the missing 8. The last time she was on the news, she was glancing nervously about. "Nobody's going to..." She couldn't seem to finish that sentence, and then she started again: "We're not giving up. Too many people care about David." It truly doesn't take a detective to suspect that Pentex can't be fond of how loud her voice is getting...
