Overview
Once a clever raven scavenging the edges of cities, Ashton Orev is a Corax who was uplifted into human form via Rite. A creature of thresholds and alleyways, Ashton is more comfortable in the Umbra than on Earth—and far more at home in shadow than spotlight.
Now in Houston, drawn by rumors of strange movements and corrupted tides, Ashton has become entangled in something much larger than himself: a forming multi-Fera pack. He doesn't quite know what he's meant to be in it—spy, scout, omen, or joke—but he’s circling close to see what shakes loose.

Character Evolution
Ashton began as a creature of thresholds—part bird, part boy, part whisper in the Umbra. Uplifted by Rite and shaped more by curiosity than comfort, he moved through the world like a ghost scavenger, speaking in riddles and vanishing before anyone could pin him down. He watched more than he acted, and when he spoke, it was often to test, deflect, or warn.
But something is shifting.
Lately, Ashton has begun to linger. He listens longer. He asks questions—genuine ones—and sometimes, he even stays long enough to hear the answers. He fidgets more when people are kind. He apologizes for interrupting. He explains himself. He offers little truths wrapped in poetry. It's awkward, slow, and very much a work in progress—but he is learning to speak *with* others, not just *at* them.
He still slips between reflections, follows strange winds, and drifts toward secrets like a crow to carrion. But he is also beginning to build something strange and new: connection. Not obligation, not prophecy—*friendship*. Maybe even trust. Maybe, in time, a place to land.
He’s still mostly bird. But more and more, Ashton is choosing to be human—not because he has to, but because he’s beginning to want to.

Appearance
Ashton usually appears as a wiry young man with dark eyes, ragged black hair, and a feral sort of grace. He wears a leather jacket over bare skin, a black feather earring, and faded jeans with combat boots. Tattoos spiral down his arms and chest—some mystical, some simply weird. In raven form, he's oversized and gleaming, with uncanny intelligence in his eyes.
He often fidgets with a polished metal ring on his finger, and rarely stands still for long. His gaze always seems to land just before something happens.

RP Hooks
The Whisper Collector Ashton hears things—spirit gossip, umbral echoes, secrets people thought were buried. Hook: Need info on something weird? Want to recover (or hide) a secret? Ashton’s your whisper broker.
Urban Umbra Scout He knows the streets and the spirit-roads. Ashton walks maps no one else sees. Hook: Need a guide into the Umbra, especially through city terrain? He knows which alleys slip sideways.
Unclaimed Nest He doesn’t have a place of his own. Not really. But he might land near yours. Hook: Offer Ashton shelter—or spy on him when he crashes somewhere odd. He’s the kind of guest who finds what’s hidden in the walls.
Shiny Things Go Missing Ashton doesn’t mean to steal. It just… happens. Hook: Something shiny has vanished. Ashton had it. It's probably even shinier now that it's in his possession.
Spirit Magnet Spirits are drawn to Ashton. Not always in a good way. Hook: Something’s following him—and now it’s following you. Or maybe you want to bargain with a spirit that only listens to him.
Packmate With Boundaries He’s part of a pack… sort of. He comes close, but rarely stays. Hook: Push him to trust. Or test him. Or just try to figure out what he’s running from.
Corax Culture Clash Ashton was uplifted, not born Homid. He doesn’t always get how humans work. Hook: Teach him something. Or exploit his confusion. Or help him translate bird-logic into people-logic.
Former Courier for Things Not of This World Ashton used to run packages between spirits, mages, demons, and stranger things. Hook: He delivered something he shouldn't have. Or someone wants a delivery only he can make.

Relationships
- Noelle (Corax): Fellow Corax. Brighter than him, and braver in some ways. He trusts her—more than he admits.
- Dusk (Ananasi): A spider with fangs and flirtation. Ashton sees the predator in him—and isn’t entirely avoiding it.
- Kahale (Rokea): Tidal and terrifying. Ashton respects him like one respects the ocean—carefully.
- Lucien (Mokolé): Sunlight with teeth. Ashton isn’t sure what he sees in Lucien’s dreams yet, but it’s probably important.

Rumors
- "He stole something from a spirit and gave it back shinier. Now it follows him."
- "That ring on his finger? It’s not a fetish. Or maybe it is."
- "He sleeps in rooftops, tunnels, and once, inside a billboard."
- "He talks to walls. Sometimes they talk back."
